More iPad sketching

Hopefully I'll get one more out of this little series before my creativity dries up

Thursday, 10 March 2011

I am nothing if not a predictably slow updater. Been wrangling with Adobe ideas on the iPad recently, took a little while to get into but once I'd got the hang of it it was hella fun to create directly with my finger

This took way longer to do than expected. Well I guess patience is a virtue and all that

Old Boys

For reasons I can't quite remember I drew a picture of some old men sometime last year.

I bought a kindle last week and absolutely love it. In my excitement to open the box, I left a tear mark underneath the packing note. As the box is acting as my case for the time being I thought I should turn the torn shape into something a little more interesting - Kindle FTW!

Small Poem

Everything I do creatvely for myself these days seems short and not-post worthy - hence the lack of posts these last few months. Maybe it's time to start posting the little things as well.

Winters moon is as summers moon.
Both hang defiantly in the darkness, providing midnight illumination for unsociable travellers.
Both embrace the sweet kiss of sunrise as a signal for departure, the never-ending cycle of day vs night.
Both wax and wane and wane and wax, shifting shapes on the blackened stage of seasons night.

Sea Monkey

I haven't updated in months whoops. Here's a little logo for a friends boat. It's a monkey that lives in the sea...get it? That's why I'm on the big wage

Demon Woman

it's official, I suck at updates. In my defence I have just set up a new site over at that's sucking away most of my free time. Anyways enough with the pitiful excuses, here's another illustrator piece.

Sperm Whales

I haven't posted in a while (sorry!) I've been getting my bits together and learning some new software. Here's my first finished piece created in illustrator - It depicts a rather vivid dream I had not so long ago in which a group of giant sperm whales breached the earth underneath an old western style saloon. The words come from the song 'Colleen' by Joanna Newsom which continues to mesmerize me (and no doubt contributed deeply to the creation of the dream itself)

Dakota Bear

A scene from my fim 'Dakota'

I just noticed something. My inspiration obviously comes in waves as the music I write pretty much coincides with the pictures I draw. I should be recording the first real record of my solo music project next month, expect to see the last three images represented musically in some form or another.

Roland of Gilead

I'm reading through The Dark Tower series of books right now and i've got to say the imagery conjured by the words is truly inspiring. I know many have criticised Roland for being a weak character but pages 173 - 198 (Roland and Susan's first meeting) of Wizard and Glass really bring him to life for me. Here is a sketch of that first moonlight meet.

Me and James are potentially working on something at the moment, heres one of the (very rough) ideas.

Ladies and Gentlefolk let me introduce (by invitation of his majesty the king!) - Naturalist, Scientist and answerer of all life's mysteries-ist - Professor Harris Wigglesworth!

I know im a cretin that doesn't update, things have just been real busy of late. Anyway i've got some ideas for a few sketches so sit tight and in the mean time take a goosey at my review of Hero of Sparta for the iphone/ipod touch located on my review site.

I find the Norwich market dried fruit man to be of constant enjoyment so here he is in full mandolin joy!

Underneath him is a concept for a friends animation
